Chiropractic

What is a chiropractic adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a gentle low force manipulation that is made by hand or instrument on a very specific area of the spine or extremity in a very specific direction that will correct impaired areas of motion in the body.  Most manipulations require little or no physical restraint of the patient and cause no discomfort or pain.  As a matter of fact many times the patient will show signs of relief and relaxation immediately following specific treatments.  The treatments are very well tolerated.

What kind of training does a veterinary chiropractor receive?
Certified veterinary chiropractors are Doctors of Veterinary Medicine or Doctors of Chiropractic who have completed courses in animal chiropractic from approved veterinary chiropractic schools consisting of at least 200 hours of post-graduate training in animal chiropractic.  Additionally these certified animal chiropractors have successfully passed both written and practical examinations administered by national certification boards.  Annual continuing education is also a requirement to maintain certification.  Using a certified animal chiropractor will insure that your horse is being treated by a professional with an extensive educational background in all facets of animal chiropractic care.

How many treatments will my horse require?
The number of treatments needed by a patient and the frequency of follow-up visits varies greatly and is made on a case by case basis.  Some horses will exhibit dramatic results and may not require repeat visits for some time.  Other cases may require a number of visits in a relatively short period of time to produce desired results.
